The academic council of Delhi University said that for the academic session 2023–2024, the university will only admit first-year students based on how well they do on the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET). Not only that, but starting this year, CUET scores will be the only way to get into all minority colleges, including St. Stephen's. During centralised counselling, the authorities will make a separate merit list for students who are not in a "reserved category" and for students from a "minority" group, based on the rules for reservations. Coming back to the article's topic, we've given a lot of information about how DU will admit students from minority colleges through CUET 2023. Let's read the post to find out everything we need to know about how to get into college, how admissions through CUET will affect minority colleges, and more.

How did people get into St. Stephen's College before now?

  • From now on, the only way to get into St. Stephen's College is to pass the CUET Exam 2023.

  • Before, the admissions process for St. Stephen's college, which sets aside 50% of its seats for Christian students, was different from that of DU, which used to give admissions based on the cut-offs.

Admission to the college used to be based on the following:

  • 85% weightage was given to class 12

  • 15% weightage to written tests and interview

But because of the country's ongoing crisis, the college got rid of the written test and did interviews online instead.

Will DU's admissions through CUET affect the number of minorities who come to DU?

Vikas Gupta, who is in charge of the Registrar's Office, said that the Common Universities Entrance Test will not hurt the minority colleges in any way. When admitting students to their first year of college, all colleges will use the same policy for making reservations as they did up until last year. On the CUET exam, class 12 board marks won't count for anything. But the universities that are taking part might use a certain percentage of Class 12 marks as a qualification to take the test. The general category and minority students each have their own merit list, and the college will only let students into CUET based on the merit list.

Will CUET interview people who want to get into minority colleges?

Since the detailed notice hasn't been released yet, it's not clear whether or not CUET does interviews for minority college admissions. Stephen's college may hold interviews for minority college admissions while other colleges won't. All central universities in the country only let people in if they are on the list of top students. Through CUET 2023, DU will let students into minority colleges. The Common Universities Entrance Test will be used to let people into different classes at DU minority colleges.

According to the latest news, the use of CUET for student admission will make the selection process easier in terms of both opportunity and demographics. As part of the selection process, you will have to take a test that will be given to you by NTA. The entrance exam will test your language skills, general knowledge, ability to think logically, and subject knowledge. The Common Universities Entrance Test is given in 13 languages through a computer-based test (CBT), also known as an online test.

According to the CUET Exam Pattern 2023, there will be four parts to the test.

  • Section 1A & 1B: Language test

  • Section 2: Domain-specific test

  • Section 3: General aptitude test

Those who pass this test you need a solid CUET Preparation Strategy. After clearing the exam you will be able to go through the counselling process and they will be applying for admissions on the college's website.
